A high-growth baked goods manufacturer needed a Vice President of Food Safety & Quality for a newly created leadership role overseeing more than 20 plants, 100 production lines, and 18 categories. With no previous FSQA expertise at the COO level, the organization needed a resident expert who could develop a 3 to 5-year FSQA strategy that would scale with the business.
The Challenge
The existing team was strong at managing day-to-day FSQA needs but required leadership to set strategy and prepare the organization for future growth. Key priorities included managing a national team across Food Safety & Quality, Regulatory, Sanitation, and EHS; developing a tactical team into strategic, forward-thinking leaders; maintaining strong audit performance; and bridging collaboration gaps between operations and quality.
