Director of Quality Assurance
Our client, a privately held, global seafood company known for responsible harvesting and sustainable processes, is seeking a Director of Quality Assurance to lead the strategic implementation and oversight of corporate quality and traceability programs across multiple operations in Eastern Canada and Maine.
This role ensures food safety compliance, drives continuous improvement, and supports cross-functional collaboration across operations and new product development. As the organization’s primary quality leader, this person oversees HACCP programs, manages regulatory relationships (CFIA, FDA), and ensures all products meet compliance and certification standards. Reporting to senior leadership, this is a highly visible opportunity to strengthen quality programs and support company growth.
Some qualifications include:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in food quality assurance, with at least 3 years in a leadership or multi-site role.
- Deep knowledge of Quality Management Systems (HACCP, GMP, traceability) and food safety regulations (CFIA, FDA, GFSI standards such as SQF or BRC).
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage multi-site quality programs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience overseeing laboratory operations, product testing, and third-party vendor relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with root cause analysis, process control, and KPI tracking.
- Experience managing audits, certifications, and regulatory compliance across multiple facilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with regulatory agencies and senior leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or related field required
